LO2: Potential Revenue

My website is designed to be an online shop for Small Machines products. This means that I will be gaining revenue from selling the products that Small Machines produces. Another way to get some extra revenue would be to put advertisements on the site for other companies. One way that I can get advertisements on my site is from Google AdSense. This is a simple way of getting advertisements from a wide variety of different companies on my site. This could be anything from a small pop-up to a sponsored video advertisement for that company. There could even be a section on the website to show "partnered companies" that sell similar products to Small Machines, such as Mega Hobby or Wonderland Models that the Small Machines site would promote in order to gain more revenue.

LO2: Budget

The price for a domain name for my site is £8.99 with hosting costing around £5.99 a month. The WordPress theme that I will be using will be free so that will not effect the price of the website designing. An average web designer is paid around £22,000 a year. However, for a single project, like the Small Machines website, this will cost a lot less.

LO2: Information Flow

On my website I will try to make sure that  a user can get from one page to another easily and from any other part of the website. For this I will make sure that there is a navigation bar at the top of every page that links directly to all the other main pages on my site. This will allow the users to get from one place to another easily on my site without having to click any unnecessary links.

I would like to link each page directly to one another, but this would be difficulty as I am looking to have a page for each individual product, and that would mean there would be a lot of links on each page. For that reason I have decided that I will put a link to the main products page on each of the other pages, and make sure that all of the available products are visible on that main products page.

LO2: Launch Date

From my Gantt chart I can see that my website will be done for around the middle of April. From this information I would say that a reasonable launch for my site would be in early June, to give me enough time to get feedback from users and make any changes to the website that I may want.

LO2: Legal & Ethical

Copyright
My website will contain the Small Machines logo and images of the Small Machines products. This will mean that I will need permission from Small Machines to use their images on my site.

Regulatory Body
W3C is a regulatory body that puts a Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct in place so that websites are working within the law. In order to make sure that my site does not break any laws, I will have to follow this code. Reference: https://www.w3.org/
